Letter from Division President Dana Zurcher on Tentative Agreement

Leader Messages

July 17th, 2022

Dear Kroger Columbus Associate:

I hope you have had the opportunity to enjoy the summer with your family and friends. It’s an important time to rest, relax and have fun.

I also wanted to take a moment and share how grateful I am for your dedication and commitment to providing an exceptional, uplifting shopping experience to our customers every day. The entire Kroger Columbus Division leadership team is so appreciative of the work you do!

As you know, we have reached an important fully recommended tentative agreement with UFCW Local 1059, and you are facing an important vote next week, on July 26 and July 27. We believe you need the facts so you can make the best decision for you and your family. The most important thing for you to do is to review the fully recommended tentative agreement and vote. In order for your voice to be heard, you must vote. This is a decision that impacts you, your family, and your livelihood.

Kroger and UFCW Local 1059 both agree that this fully recommended tentative agreement is a fair and balanced deal:

  • Larger and sooner pay increase compared to your current contract. This fully recommended tentative agreement includes pay increases for all associates during the life of the contract, including top rates, AND for associates, as they progress in the three-step wage progression scale.
  • Provides high-quality, affordable health care – one of the best plans in the retail supermarket industry. You will continue to have very stable and affordable healthcare throughout the term of the contract.

It is important for you to see this agreement before voting. Please ask a member of management or a union representative for full details and any questions you may have. Listen to them for the facts.

When it’s all said and done, the opinion that matters most is yours. Look carefully at the benefits you will receive by ratifying this agreement. We hope you will see that it affirms our commitment to you, bolsters our company’s long-term success, and will maintain our continued presence in this community.

You will have the opportunity to vote on this agreement at voting locations on Tuesday, July 26, and Wednesday, July 27. The union will be providing you with voting times and locations.

Don’t leave it to others. Review the fully recommended tentative agreement and do what is right for you. Make your voice heard and your vote count. Vote YES to ratify this fully recommended tentative agreement.
