Contract includes $120 Million in New Wages Plus Ratification Bonuses

Kroger Columbus Division’s latest contract – the largest investment in the Division’s history – shows the Company is committed to doing what is best for our associates. Kroger continues to encourage the UFCW to join the Company in doing what is best for everyone, while the Company assesses its options considering the UFCW’s failure to support ratification.

Here is a closer look at what is in the contract. Over the next three years, Kroger’s contract included a $381 million investment in our associates:

$120 Million in Additional Wages:

  •  Increasing top-rate wages by $1.80 per hour through the life of the contract, based on job classification and tenure.  Click here to view the wage scales and what your new rate of pay would be.
  • $14.25 per hour clerk starting rates for new hires in ALL 1059 stores. $15.25 starting rate for new hires in Deli/Bakery
  • Up to a $2.25 per hour increase for associates in the wage scales in the first year of the contract based on progression and classification
  • Meaningful increases through the life of the contract are based on hours worked by associates in progressions.

Pension and Health Care Benefits

  • $192 million investment in healthcare over three years to meet projections on potential healthcare cost increases.
  • No changes in healthcare eligibility requirements, prescription drug costs, dental coverage, vision plan, and life insurance including accidental death and short-term disability coverage for the life of this three-year contract.
  • The contract also included modest increases to associate weekly health care contributions in 2024.

Bottom line: Eligible associates would pay up to $23.50 a week for individual health care coverage and up to $35.50 for family coverage in 2023. By comparison, the Ohio average per week for individual coverage is $30 and $98 for family coverage, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation.

  • $69 million in pension benefits through the next three years, providing associates with a stable and more secure retirement benefit.
